All boats put on the Colorado River at Cisco Landing and take out at, appropriately named, Take-Out Beach. Students will cover 37 river miles over the five day trip.
While on the river, all students will travel the same route, however there are three different camping trips the students will be placed on: Coates Creek, Bull Canyon, or Salt Wash. These trips are named after their layover locations. During the layover day, students and leaders will spend the day exploring the desert landscape, washes, and canyons. The hikes vary in length, but groups plan on being away from camp for the majority of the day.
The four days that students are on the river, they will encounter calm water and the opportunity to relax, take in the beautiful scenery, swim if desired, and pull together while paddling. On warm days it has been known that water fights break out between rafts on the calm sections of river. Several class II or III rapids (ratings depend upon water levels) will give the students the opportunity to work together as a team to paddle the rapids while whooping and hollering!
