At school the staff prepare students for the trip by working on curriculum connections to Arches, talking about proper clothing and equipment for a desert trip, discussing proper wilderness camping ethics and procedures, and checking over individual student equipment and tents.
One to two weeks prior to the trip, trip leaders host a parent orientation meeting. At this time a review of goals of the trip, itineraries, and required clothing and equipment takes place.
Volunteers are essential for this trip to be successful. Chaperones and food shoppers are just some of the needs.
