"Red sand flowing in the wind
People getting lost in their train of thought
Silence...then sound
Something new happens each second
Beautiful sight, wonderful feeling
Arches."

The Aspen Middle School fifth-grade outdoor education experience is designed to introduce students to the wonders of the desert and geology of Arches National Park near Moab, Utah. The park was created to showcase the amazing sandstone geology, desert flora, and fauna.
Students travel to Utah in the early fall, which means they may have nice, warm weather or it could be raining or snowing! We ask that students be prepared for either situation. Group camping sites in the park are our home for four days as we venture out on hikes and guided tours.
In addition to learning of the spectacular environment, camping skills and wilderness ethics are emphasized. By working together in a spirit of cooperation, and by applying personal responsibility to activities, students will gain knowledge and appreciation of this unique natural resource as well as a better understanding of their classmates.
Learning to work together as a team and understanding more about each classmate is truly a “bonding” experience for our students.
